Rep. Neylon: Outraged by Congressional Candidate’s Comments

Waukesha – In response to recent comments made by a “Republican” candidate for Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District, Paul Nehlen, State Representative Adam Neylon issued the following statement:

“The notion Paul Nehlen wants to have a ‘discussion’ about deporting U.S. citizens based on their religion is outrageous and un-American.  I support civil discourse, but this type of hateful ‘discussion’ has no place in American politics. Deporting citizens based on their religion violates the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment and our First Amendment right of religious freedom.

“As elected lawmakers, we take an oath to uphold the constitution, not work to destroy it. I’m embarrassed Paul Nehlen calls himself a Republican but take solace in the fact his desires are shared by a small minority and that defenders of freedom and liberty will remain vigilant in the face of this type of fascism, the very worst of big government.”

“I fully support Speaker Paul Ryan’s re-election and believe now more than ever he’s the best person to help lead our party and our nation and protect our constitutional rights.”
